How To Land A Job Via LinkedIn

LinkedIn has been in existence longer than Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, and Instagram. The American business and employment-oriented online service that operates via websites and mobile apps were launched on May 5, 2003.

The platform is mainly used for professional networking and allows job seekers to post their curriculum vitae(CVs) and employers to post jobs.

As of 2015, most of the company's revenue came from selling access to information about its members to recruiters and sales professionals. Since December 2016, it has been a wholly-owned subsidiary of Microsoft and had a registry of 756 million registered members from 200 countries and territories as of June 2021.

Networking

There are several professionals and companies that are on the platform. You can connect with those in your field and even fields that you have an interest in.

You can also join groups to network, and take part in discussions. To do this, you need to get involved in forums, join groups and meet like-minded individuals like yourself.

Job seeking is a tough task particularly in Kenya where unemployment is rampant. Therefore, applying for online jobs each and every day is a job in itself.

Use as a research tool

A LinkedIn account can help you do additional research on companies. This is helpful before submitting applications and researching who is set to interview you.

Gain more skills

LinkedIn is known to have short courses that you can take on the site and you can be rewarded with a certificate upon completion. You can also take assessment tests that are within the platform to prove your skillset.

Gain endorsements from former employers

Bosses you have worked under as well as employees you have worked with can endorse you for your skills and past work. This allows anyone who visits your profile to recruit you more often and it shows you have other experts backing up your claims to have certain skills.

Easy applying for jobs

You can find job opportunities on this site as LinkedIn has an option to directly apply for some roles. It also makes communication between you and your future employer much easier.
