Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana offered Makueni county Youths various tools and kits to begin their self-employment businesses under the Ujuzi Teketeke program on Tuesday 25th.

In a post seen by this publication, governor Kibwana stated that at least 184 youths had received their tools to grow their businesses in the Jua Kali sector. 

 "At least 184 young people from Makueni have received tools of the trade to start and grow their businesses in the Jua Kali sector, under the county government's UJUZI TEKETEKE program, "he wrote.

The governor also further explained that the Ujuzi Teketeke Program is aimed at attaching learners to established craftsmen on the particular trained jobs.

"Ujuzi Teketeke is an 8-week youth life skills training initiative where learners are attached to established craftsmen for on-the-job training to equip young people with industrial skills. 

In the program, those who complete the 8-week training successfully become the lucky ones since they are given tools to begin their own businesses.

"Those who successfully complete the 8-week training are issued start-up kits to start their own biz. The craftsmen are also supported to continue supporting the apprentices. The program is supported by the National Industrial Training Authority & Kenya National Juakali Federation" He added.

The new program focuses on different areas that youths can specialize in.They include Catering, Barber and salon, Mechanics, Plumbing, Carpentry, Masonry, Photography and video production, Agribusiness, Tailoring, and Welding.

However, his effort to promote the Makueny Couty youths has been linked with political heated debates in the country currently.

On Monday 17th Governor Kibwana dropped his urge to vie for this year`s presidency position to support Orange Democratic Movement party leader Raila Odinga in the  August general elections.

He stated that the Makueni county people gave him the authority to support the former prime minister Raila Odinga.

"My people in Makueni have given me the go-ahead to support Azimio la Umoja". Kivutha Kibwana stated.

He also noted that they decided with other governors to support Raila.

"As governors, we have decided to support Raila Odinga as the presidential candidate for Azimio la Umoja. Raila is the father of devolution & as the president, he will protect devolution". He added.
