According to Mulunda Kombo, the Glenfiddich national brand ambassador in Kenya, the new rare collections of Glenfiddich whiskies have arrived in Kenya after being unveiled the previous week. According to him, the collections are in limited supply in Kenya, with prices ranging from Kshs. 123,000 to Kshs. 4.8 million.

‘‘As these are the rarest in the series, there are just 220 decanters of the 50-year-old expression globally. In the 40-year-old category, there are only 1,600 bottles,’’ Mulunda stated.

According to Mulunda, the 30-year-old whisky will, however, be ‘‘more widely available’’ in days to come, adding that the company is working on availing them locally soon.

Glenfiddich debuted a rare new collection of 50, 40, and 30-year-old whiskies for the high-end market last week. According to the company, the drinks in this collection aptly called ‘‘Time Re: Imagined’’, are only available in select bottles globally.

According to Kombo, Glenfiddich fans and whisky connoisseurs in general would purchase the trio of whiskies because "they are the pinnacle of Glenfiddich's unique Speyside whisky making style."

‘‘For many years, Glenfiddich has maintained its single malt credibility by never compromising on the quality of the liquid. Consumers can see this and are willing to pay for quality. It has also spruced up its image by modernizing it, thus attracting new consumers," Kombo stated.

Collectors and investors would also buy them to either add to their own collection or to make a tidy profit after some time.

Over the years, the Kenyan market has attracted premium whisky brands from around the world with many of them establishing distribution channels in Nairobi to serve Kenya and the region.

Where is Glenfiddich mostly drunk?

The drink is ideal for sipping neat, on the rocks, or in a variety of cocktails.

It is also enjoyed in the privacy of the consumer's own home. Some people buy the beverage to stock their home bars for personal consumption or to entertain guests on special events.
