Immigration and Citizen Service Principal Secretary, Julius Bitok announced that Kenyans can now apply for Marriage Certificate online during the closure of a workshop on Friday, 10th March.

The registration will be done through e-Citizen, an online platform with more than 5000 services. Bitok also pointed out that the government was targeting a rise in revenue from it.

The announcement has triggered different opinions with most people differing with the thought. However, some agreed to it, saying that it would make things easier.

Previously, the weds were needed to go through a series of physical applications from one office to another. They had to start by filling a Notice of Marriage at the Registrar of Marriage office, then later wait for 21 days legal notice period as they await for any objections on the wedding.
