Though lucky that the angry pangs of death didn't snatch him, Kelvin Mungai is fighting for his life at Maragua hospital after officers shot him recently for being out past curfew hours.

The victim accidentally met with the law enforcers who were out to enforce the dusk-to-dawn curfew, while he was going home after visiting a family that had been bereaved.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, Kelvin narrated how he was in the company of his two colleagues, riding on a motorbike. The officers ordered them to stop before one of them demanded Sh5,000 as a bribe to let them proceed.

Being unable to pay, the officers descended on Kelvin pulling him off the bike. One of the officers then shot him on the stomach and left him for dead.

A medic in Maragua noted that a surgical operation had already been performed on Kelvin, but the bullet was still too deep in the chest cavity, thus calling for specialized medical attention.

Kelvin's family is now calling for speedy investigations and justice served, with officers in Murang'a already have initiated their investigation.
