Eliud Kipchoge Nominated for the 2022 Male Athlete of the Year Award

Eliud Kipchoge, Kenya's double Olympic champion, is one of five athletes nominated for the Male Athlete of the Year Award 2022.

The five athletes listed, who represent five countries and three area associations, have excelled in a variety of athletic disciplines in 2022, including World Athletics Championships Oregon22, World Athletics Indoor Championships Belgrade 22, one-day meeting circuits, and other international events.

The other four athletes listed include;

1. Mondo Duplantis, SWE - World pole vault champion indoors and outdoors
2. Soufiane El Bakkali, MAR - World 3000m steeplechase champion
3. Jakob Ingebrigtsen, NOR - World 5000m champion, world 1500m silver medallist indoors and outdoors
4. Noah Lyles, USA - World 200m champion

The event is scheduled to happen on December 5, 2022. 

In 2021, Eliud Kipchoge was named the best male athlete of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic games at the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) Awards.

“It is an honor to win the ANOC Award for the Best Male Athlete at the Tokyo Olympics,” said Kipchoge. “With so many beautiful performances by so many athletes, I am proud to be the recipient of this award,” Kipchoge stated.
