Infertility in men, and Erectile Dysfunction(ED) being among men's nightmares.

DOES COVID-19 CAUSE INFERTILITY IN MEN?

Since the coming of the coronavirus pandemic, a lot has been learned along the way. As the long-term effects of the virus are concerned,  it could not be easily known ever since its inversion into the world. Researchers are now breaking the Unknown fact into the world concerning our bodies to the virus, particularly with the man's sexual and reproductive health.

A ray of light is being shared with the men, as survival from coronavirus is discovered to have a long-term effect on the male gender. Majorly associated with Erectile Dysfunction (ED). The factors that have been pointed out are as follow;

          psychological impact

This is brought about mainly by stress, anxiety, and depression brought about by the virus which is directly linked to sexual dysfunction and the poor general mood in an individual.

            Overall health deterioration

Erectile Dysfunction(ED) is mainly brought about by underlying problems in the body. Those recovering from covid-19 are at greater risk of Erectile Dysfunction and other complications to men.

                 vascular effects

since we know that covid-19 can cause hyper inflammation throughout the body especially in the heart surrounding muscles, the blood supply to the penis can be thwarted or narrowed as a result of a new or worsening vascular condition caused by the virus.

According to the Urologist Ryan Berglund, MD, he explains "so particularly for Young and Healthy people who abruptly develop erectile dysfunction, and especially after having covid-19 this can be a sign of something serious going on."

He added, "there have been studies showing that perhaps cardiovascular effects and other medical effects are appearing from covid-19, but the answer is that it's just too early to tell exactly all of the long-term effects. We know there are several different ways that the virus could cause erectile dysfunction but much more research is needed before we know for sure."

Beyond the biological risk the epidemiological evidence of the spread of the disease, there is a clear demonstration that this is not an equal playing field. This is with Marked intersectional difference across gender in the population groups. The men's risk of developing and dying from covid-19 is on a high.

According to the research done on covid-19 in death ratio, 77,652 men died and 59,591 women died. The overall male to female mortality sex ratio per 100,000 population was 1:2 (crudely 1:3) This ratio was not equal at all. But, the percentage of men mostly comes ahead of the women!

Since the research is still ongoing on finding out the long-term effect of covid-19.  Kindly, let's try to get our Men vaccinated as this might be one of the ways of protecting the male race because presently little is known of its long-time effect. This is with the fear of the new emerging Variant of covid-19 from parts of the world like India, which is said to be having much effect on man's reproductive health. But, one point prevails; research is ongoing on its long-term effects in the human body.
