After two police officers allegedly seized her money, a chang'aa brewer in Trans Nzoia County is believed to have fallen and died.

According to sources, two police officers raided Scolastica Marada's home on Thursday, claiming to be collecting a "protection charge" before forcibly snatching her purse, which held Ksh.30, 000.

According to Marada's sister, Nekesa, who was present at the time of the ordeal, the officers followed her into the house. They then took action after Marada offered them a bribe of Ksh.1, 000.

"Before leaving the house, one of the cops stole the purse that contained the money that my sister had collected from her merry-go-round group," she told an online source.

Marada, who had a heart issue, was brought to the hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival, according to Ms. Nekesa.

Trans Nzoia County Police Commander Jecinta Songa confirmed the event and indicated that investigations are ongoing.

"The death has been brought to our attention. The cops have been disciplined, and we're investigating the matter to find out the truth," she stated

The body has been taken to the Kimimini Cottage Hospital mortuary in the meantime.
