Cancelo Tests Positive for Covid-19 Ahead of Portugal’s Euro 2020 Opener

Man City’s defender Joao Cancelo has been placed in isolation after testing positive for Covid-19 says Portugal coach Fernando Santos who replaced the 27-year-old with Man United's Diogo Dalot as Portugal begin their Euro 2020 campaign against Hungary in Budapest on Tuesday.

Diogo Dalot spent last season on loan at Serie A’s AC Milan and was part of the Portugal side beaten in the European Championship U21 final by Germany last week.

In a statement from the Portuguese Football Federation, it said "The AC Milan player will replace Joao Cancelo, who tested positive for Covid-19 following a quick test of the antigen carried out this Saturday by the health and performance unit of the FPF.

Cancelo came into Euro 2020 after an impressive season with Manchester City, making 43 appearances as the Cityzens completed a Premier League and Carabao Cup double and reached the final of the Champions League.
