The police were served the notice on the Azimio la Umoja protests  by the Jubilee secretary general, Jeremiah Kioni. The mass action was announced to be happening every Monday and Thursday. The change from once a week to twice a week was announced by the party`s leader, Raila Odinga.

Kioni says that they should be given freedom to protest and that the duty of the police was to protect them.

"We had served the police a letter forb our demonstrations on Mondays an Thursdays. We are not doing this because we need a permit from the police. It is a right given to every Kenyan," Kioni stated.
