The victims are accused of stealing eight cows over the weekend from Kadem in the adjacent Migori county.

North Kaganda assistant chief Netto Otieno Aketch says that the suspects used a pick-up truck to steal three cows from Kadem on Saturday night.

They allegedly traveled to a homestead in the North Kaganda settlement of Kalamindi, where they were observed butchering a cow at night before vanishing into the night.

According to Aketch, the mob hunting down the thieves of the cows from Kadem joined forces with the locals of Kanyatodo and invaded three of the suspects' homes before torching six of them.

The administrator noted that they recovered eight cows and claimed that four stolen cows from the Kanyatodo region were discovered concealed in a sugarcane plantation.

He revealed that one suspect had been detained at the Ndiwa police station since his arrest Sunday evening.
