According to the information given by a reporter, a driver was shot and killed during the attack on the Tot - Arror Road in Elgeyo Marakwet County.

In addition, two teachers, a male, and a female are in critical condition after being shot many times. The authorities are on the lookout for the perpetrators who have not yet been identified.

Patrick Lumumba, the Elgeyo Marakwet County Police Commander, reported that investigations have begun in order to find the criminals.

“Recovery efforts are ongoing and the students have been taken to various health facilities in Kerio Valley and those with serious injuries referred to Kapsowar Mission Hospital,” he stated.

Lumumba, on the other hand, chastised the school administration for allowing the pupils to use the road despite recent attacks in the region.

Senator Kipchumba Murkomen of Elgeyo Marakwet resorted to social media after the attack to protest the police's reluctance in dealing with the bandits in the area.

"I hope CS Fred Matiang'i and IG Hillary Mutyambai are aware that earlier in the evening a convoy of 3 Buses carrying students of Tot Secondary School was attacked along Arror -Tot road," he stated.

"I thought you said never again? Despite your promises, no protection and no National Police Reservist (NPR)," he added.

On February 4, while meeting with leaders from Elgeyo Marakwet, Baringo, and West Pokot counties, Interior CS Fred Matiang'i ordered a security operation to clear the region of bandits.

"The crisis in Kerio Valley is no longer a resource conflict but a territorial expansionist strategy being instigated by a section of leaders.

"This is the only place during my tenure in the Interior ministry that I have visited, not once but thrice with no end to conflicts," CS Matiang'i stated then.
